What LocalBizInsider does

LocalBizInsider publishes editorial spotlights of independent local businesses across the cities we cover. Each spotlight is a researched feature — not a paid listing, not a review aggregation, not a ranking — that gives readers a clear sense of who a business is, who it serves, and what makes it worth knowing about.

For readers, that's a curated way to discover businesses in your community with established customer-review track records, presented honestly.

For business owners, a LocalBizInsider spotlight is a credible editorial reference you can share with prospective customers. Spotlights are written from public information about your business and verified with you before they go live.

How we work

We identify candidate businesses through Google Maps data, filter for established customer-review track records, and research each candidate from public sources. Before publishing, we reach out to the business owner to verify key facts.

Our research and drafting process uses AI tools to scale beyond what a small editorial team could cover alone — but every spotlight is reviewed and verified by a human editor before publication.

LocalBizInsider uses AI to assist with research and drafting. Every spotlight is reviewed by a human editor before it is published. We do not auto-publish AI output. Editors verify factual claims against public sources, remove anything that can't be substantiated, and edit for accuracy and tone. AI lets a small editorial team research more candidates than would otherwise be possible — but the verification step is the same regardless, and AI does not replace editorial judgment.

For the full process — selection criteria, what disqualifies a business, refresh policy, and what we don't claim — see how we select businesses.

Editorial standards

Our editorial selections are independent of payment. Businesses cannot pay to be featured or to influence which businesses we spotlight.

Our editors do not take public bylines. We focus on the businesses we cover, not on ourselves.

If we get something wrong, please tell us. Our corrections page explains how to report a factual error or request that a spotlight be removed.
